Privacy Policy

Which data comes up when you visit this site.

Controller

The controller for the data processing on this website is Christopher Horn, reachable at info@c-horn.de.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies. The choice between the light and the dark palette and the map view you looked at last are kept locally in the browser and never sent to the server.

Server log files

When the pages are requested, the web server automatically records the data your browser transmits:

This data is technically required to deliver the site and to keep it stable and secure. The legal basis is the legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. It is not merged with other sources, and it is not evaluated for analytics.

The IP address is shortened as the log is written, so it can no longer be traced to a person. The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.

Maps

The journey pages carry a map. Its tiles are loaded from tile.openstreetmap.org, run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom. Your IP address is transmitted to their servers in the process, along with the domain of this website as the referrer — the path of the page you are on is not passed on, the server limits the header to the domain.

The legal basis is the legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in showing the places of a journey on a map. For the United Kingdom the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR, most recently renewed in December 2025. The privacy policy of the OpenStreetMap Foundation is at https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.

Photos and the places they were taken

The photos sit on the same server as the site. No third party is involved.

For every photo the place of exposure the camera noted in the image is read out and shown on the map. The photos are delivered without those details.

Hosting

The server stands with a hosting provider in Germany that supplies the hardware, the network and the data centre; the web server itself is run and administered by me. As the provider has technical access to the systems, there is a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). Please write to the address given above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Objection

You have the right to object at any time to the processing of your data that rests on a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. On this site that is the server log files and the maps. An informal message to info@c-horn.de is enough.

Language versions

This notice exists in German and in English. Where the two versions differ, the German one applies.
